Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

As we head into winter, I wanted to post my Chocolate Crinkle Cookie recipe. I love to make these cookies on a snowy afternoon because the powdered sugar makes it look like snow. They are also amazing to serve with some home made hot chocolate. Yum!

These will melt in your mouth even after they’ve cooled. If you have a chocolate lover in your life, this is the perfect dessert to make for them. Enjoy!

RECIPE CARD

TIME TO BAKE: 10 minutes

MAKES: 15 cookies

INGREDIENTS: COOKIES

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS: TO MAKE DOUGH

  1. In a large bowl, add unsalted butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Thoroughly combine ingredients using a hand mixer or standing mixer.

  2. Next, add eggs and vanilla to mixture. Thoroughly combine.

  3. Add cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda to mixture. Combine thoroughly on low speed. Once the cocoa powder is mixed in, combine on medium speed for about 30 seconds.

  4. Add in chocolate chips and combine thoroughly with the dough.

  5. Portion the dough into cookie dough balls (about 1.5 tbsp).

  6. Place cookie dough in the refrigerator.

INGREDIENTS: TO BAKE

  1. Once dough has chilled for 1 to 24 hours, remove from refrigerator.

  2. Pre-heat oven to 350F.

  3. Add about ½ cup of powdered sugar to a medium bowl. Roll each cookie dough ball in your hands to warm up slightly, then roll the balls in the powdered sugar.

  4. Evenly distribute the cookie dough balls onto a baking sheet.

  5. Bake in oven for 10 minutes.

  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool.

  7. Serve!

TIPS

  • You can also freeze this cookie dough to save for a later date.

  • I recommend cooking 6 cookies on a small baking sheet or 10 cookies on a larger baking sheet. I use the Caraway baking sheets.

  • You can use smaller or larger cookie dough balls. If you use smaller cookie dough balls, cook the cookies for a few minutes shorter. If you use larger cookie dough balls, bake the cookies for longer!
